These plaster fixings are awesome! As long as you stick to the weight there designed to take you won’t get no better.

Bare in mind the fixing is only as good as the wall your fixing to do if you have mould or weakness in the plasterboard then these will be no good for you.

Presuming your plasterboard is in good condition or new then these will do the job!

The original Gripits were awesome fixings and I keep a selection for putting up items on a plasterboard wall (or occasionally a ceiling) where there's no noggin or brickwork to take the load. I believe the company changed ownership and the newer fixings look slightly less well made but they perform well enough.

I must admit that the concept is good, but the product is poorly made. The wings don't always open which means unreliability and the bolts are way to wide and do not fit through anything and too long. I have moved over to using Bullfix Plasterboard fixings which are absolutely reliable and take. Standard no 10 or 5.00mm diameter screws. Most other builders local to me are using Bullfix Plasterboard fixings and the universal works in dot and dab too !
Bullfix Plasterboard Fixings are available directly from their website and Amazon!

A very innovative range of plaster board fixings, they work really well for the places you can use them.

However they do an all plastic range of fixings which I found really very useless. They break easily and when screwing into them with the supplied screws they fell apart in the wall.

Some good some bad. But the round fixings are really brilliant.

The Grippit plasterboard fixings are 2nd to none. They are fantastic, not had 1 failed yet. To think these were developed by a 12 yr old and his grandfather in their shed when they were fed up with the then available range of fixings

The gripit chalk marker is easily on my top 10.

A real invention that works excellently, the green and the black tipped are very good but I do tend to go towards the black because it marks deeper holes better but still does shallow holes fine. So there's no point in carrying both!

I also massively trust the plaster board fixings they sell.

Although they seem like an expensive purchase they are worth the money when it comes to hanging heavier items on plasterboard walls. We mainly use them for large screens for Cctv and the screen feels sturdy enough even when pulling the monitor about and adjusting the angle.

Their effective in what they do but being mostly plastic they don't instill a great confidence I much prefer a decent spring toggle or an interset for fixings on gyproc. Plus I think they are quite expensive for what they are. And as well as being aimed more at the DIY market can't see these taking off with many tradesmen.

Don’t rate the grip it fixings unfortunately. Way to expensive for me, they could be better made also, I feel the screws for setting the fixing or turning the wings are way to small and can easily bend/chip if not careful. Love the companies ethos tho and how the boy started it and on to dragons den ect. Just not for me unfortunately wall anchors and a setting gun never failed me yet

when I first came across these I thought I pick up a mixed sized pack and keep them on hand just in case. The first time I had to use some they really got us out of a pickle. Easy to use, drill the correct sized hole, tap in and turn the wings. If they can hold the weights they claim in plasterboard that's an amazing fixing

So far I’ve been very happy with GripIt fixings, they are more expensive than other types on the market. At the time of writing this review I’ve had no complaints of any falling radiators that are hung on plasterboard walls, several have been up for over five years and there not small rads either. You will need a decent set of hole saws/flat blade wood bits as each size of GripIt fixing requires a set size hole to be drilled.
Due to size of holes required there is no room for errors.

Used these a couple of times, I think they are a good idea and work well, although somewhat fiddly to get right, if you don't get it right the first time you are left with a big hole to fill. For these reason I'd probably not use them again, they seem a bit expensive too. For the money would probably stick to anchor bolts with the gun for heavier items and pig tails for clips and lighter things.

14th July 2021

Hi, good morning folks. It's Gary here from Get Home Improvements, local handyman and property maintenance expert here in Aberdeen. Thanks for the quick plug there. What I'm actually here to review is the GripIt Fixings system. The world's ultimate plasterboard fixing set. I'll show you a demonstration in just one second.

So, it shows you here in the GripIt system that it's an easy, just drill, tap and turn. And the multi pack holds up to 71 kilos up to 113 kilos here on the end. Of course, they come from various sizes and various holes. Now, of course you're used to seeing all the different kinds of plasterboard fixings, from the typical raw plug, the Hollow Anchor, which is one of my favourites for TVs, and of course the screw. Every bit has its good points, every bit has its down points. For example, the screw, I've just done a really quick demonstration here of, if you can't find the timber or you've completely missed it, you'll see the back of it. And it probably won't hold much, unfortunately. This is the Hollow Anchor, which is absolutely fantastic. I love it for hanging TVs and all that, and that's your raw plug, which obviously ... This one was actually for hanging a radiator, towel radiator.

So, again, with all these ones, they've got their good points and the bad points. For example, the screws can be taken out and replaced again. The Hollow Anchor is more of a single use system, but if you want to take them out the wall, you have to wreck the wall behind it. The raw plugs are simple; they go in, they can grip, they sometimes don't grip. It really depends on the system you're actually using, but again, you can reuse these again.

Now, with the GripIt system, it seems to me that you can actually reuse them. What I've done here is I've set up a quick demonstration. You've got a 15mm hole, an 18mm hole, a 20mm hole and a 25mm hole, corresponding to the different sizes. I'll open up the packet in a second and I'll put them in and just see actually how easy they are to use.

Put that in, round the other size. Excuse my bad recording. There you go, it pushes through, quick turn. You can see that's through. You can see that's through this side. Turn the screwdriver, that's them locked into place. And then all you do is obviously use your, whatever fixing you have, put it on and that should be it.

Again, I'm doing this one handed guys, so sorry about this. So, there we go. Holds up to 71 kilos. Trying to put a bit of force in with the hammer, and no, it's not moving. Right, so that's well in place. So, that's the up to 71 kilos again, which it says it's ideal for curtain poles and blinds. The 74 kilo is the red one, which has got ideal for shelves, shower units and mirrors. Up to 93 kilos, which is ideal for radiators, bathroom lights, bathroom units and lighting, sorry. And the last one, which is ideal for televisions, kitchen units and large shelves. That's the blue one at the back there.

Now, as you can see from the back, they are all engaged there, absolutely no problem. If you undo, try to undo the screw, it won't undo. And if you do actually, for some reason, undo it, it won't come all the way out because it still grips there, and that's me trying to pull it out that side. So, even when the levers aren't engaged properly, it still actually holds it well in place.

This is the other one. The advantage of having these things over, is a case of once you're finished with them, again just come out and you can reuse them again. Just patch up the hole. Obviously they do make a bigger hole than the raw plugs or Hollow Anchors, but the advantage over these ones rather than Hollow Anchors is they are reusable. They're not the cheapest on the block, but again, can you put a price on customer satisfaction? If you can say that this is going to hold something up to 113 kilos and you can hang from it, fantastic.

Would I use them? You know what, I'll give it a shot. As I said, I absolutely love these, but getting them out the wall is an absolute pain afterwards. So, if you want to move a TV from one wall to the other, again, you have to cut out a larger hole or wreck it even more. These ones are pretty good. As I said, it's quite self-explanatory, they're really easy to use. Yeah, hope you enjoyed it, folks.

So, again, that's my review of the GripIt Fixings system, the world's ultimate plasterboard fixing stuff from Get Home Improvements here in Aberdeen. Thanks. Bye-bye.

21st May 2021

Hello. I'm giving you a review of GripIt's Plasterboard Fixings. Supposed to be super duper and very, very powerful plasterboard fixings. First comment I'd like to make is the packaging. As you'll be able to see, I open the packaging and everything fell out. So I've had to put these into some sort of order myself as they all come in loose pieces. Now, the idea of these is very, very good. And I was really keen to try them. Basically, just a very strong, ideal item for fixing things in plasterboard. As you can see, I put up the plasterboard to try these. This is a 20 mm hole, push the GripIt into the plasterboard. And then with whatever screwdriver, large Phillips, fix your screw into the plasterboard.

This is a 20 mm hole, so should hold in the region, I think it says 74 kg. So that's a very good strong hold. Now my issue with these items is if you want to take these out, first of all, as you turn back that unlocks the GripIt then you remove the screw and you're basically quite fighting to pull the item out. It obviously you don't want to damage the wall any further than you have to. And they're quite difficult to get back out of the wall. I have already broken one of these in testing, and I think to myself, It's probably far easier to use the old style fixings. My apologies GripIt.

I just think there's a little bit of work to be done on these. If you get it right first time, every time. Perfect. But as you can see, they don't seem to shut up quite as perfectly as they open. This makes it difficult for the end user to get them back out. I think the idea is great. I just think it needs a bit more work. All in all I would say I would use them, but maybe for only something that's going to be not on show. You don't have to be dead accurate with it because if you miss, it's not coming out and you're never getting another one in. Hope that helps you guys, girls, ladies, and gents, and you are enjoyed an honest review. Thank you.
