DEWALT DCH273 Brushless XR SDS Plus Hammer

It's a solid sds drill would recommend to anyone looking to buy an sds. Bought as a set with impact and hammer drill would highly recommend on price

it is fantastic. loads of ease, and is more than capable of getting any job done. would definitely recommend and i can see myself using this for years.

Treated myself to a new SDS after my other unit was starting to be a little bit of a pain. I had already had a brushless 18v SDS from another brand so wasnt expecting much of a difference but boy was I wrong ! The power to weight was unbelievable and it just went through red brick like it was block and that was using a 20mm bit too. Biggest difference was the Anti Vibration, my other drill didnt have this feature and the vibration went straight up my arm so long days and big jobs took its toll but this unit I could use all day every day. The batteries (5Ah) are amazing and last way longer than I expected, I went off DeWalt a while ago but now having the SDS and the drill driver and Impact driver, I am well and truly going back to DeWalt.

Dewalt done it again a good sds compact too I have had mine a year and still no problems it's powerful enough to get the job done brilliant drill

This was one of the best purchases I have made in years !
I had 600 16mm holes each 150mm deep into reinforced concrete slabs which I scheduled two days for. This drill managed it in less than a day !
I was well impressed and also it virtually paid for itself in one day.
I would definitely recommend this product to a friend.

Great value for money all things considered as the drill is bulletproof will last you many many years if looked after. As long as you’ve got some big batteries on hand it will last all day.

Absolutely swear by this drill being a Dewalt user, I have literally hammered it’s use chasing walls, and drilling on all manner of masonary bricks and blocks including concrete, even cored 4” holes on breeze blocks with it and it never lets me down. If it ever gives up I will definitely purchase another one with confidence.

Cant fault it l, it has been abused over the last 4 yrs and still works everyday for chasing. I honestly though this would have died yrs ago but it just keeps going.

I grabbed one of these just over a year ago at a tool show hoping it would be good having seen a number of other tradesman using them. Got it home and immediately had buyers remorse before even trying it out, I thought I had bought a tool that would be underpowered. Slapped a 18v 5AH battery on it and boy was I wrong. It’s the perfect tool, it powers though walls like butter, the chisel attachments break up solid bits of concrete, very handy in tight spaces. Drilling holes in lintels to hang blinds, it handles it like it is soft wood. Can’t believe I waited so long to purchase a cordless SDS plus drill. It comes with a fantastic steel depth stop. It sits at the top of my all time favourite DeWalt cordless at the moment. Slightly different model DCH273 Typ2. I definitely, definitely, definitely recommend you get one of these in your collection.

This thing is a beast of a drill can power though anything great for masonary work or chasing through old tough plaster and brick. It's light compared to some other sds drills I've handles easily use it with one hand ( not recommended all the time of course) absolutely love it!

Absolutely smashing bit of kit. Have used this to rip massive areas of tiled floors up, just powers it’s way through, have knocked concrete blocks and bricks out ready for windows and doors, and also used to drive drill bits through walls. Has a hammer, hammer and drill or just drill feature to accommodate your need. Can get a dust extractor too that works great with this, would recommend one of them as can get a bit dusty sometimes. So simple and lightweight comes with a depth guide and the rotatable front handle for support. Would definitely recommend.

Had this drill a few years now and its absolutely brilliant its lightweight so great for drilling walls especially above head it has tons of power for its small design and is just a great piece of kit for the price

Excellent piece of kit, use it with 4ah batteries putting in windows, it sails through bricks, blocks concrete and steel lintels. Definitely recommend it.

Got this with a kit, an absolute beauty, definitely recommend it, top hammer drill, never let's you down, I still have a corded version before this cordless one and still going strong that one is. DeWalt the best

Used one of these a few weeks ago always had trouble getting through steel lintels in house but the SDS drill went through like butter! Great drill and well made

Not really put it to the test properly other than drilling a few wholes in sheer speed.. I thought the rotary may have been a bit faster. Hammer is superb on it.. batteries seem to last well in it.. not sure to try and core drill hole with it maybe 1-2inch should be fine anything bigger il just use my 240v SDS. Iv tried and tested many cordless power tools makita, Bosch do not compare. Although I do prefer Makita on 240v power tools

An other great tool i wouldn't be without. My Son thinks its a beast but i find the hammer blows great compated to just vibration of his smaller brother the cobi compact.

Great dewalt sds drill. Does what it’s supposed to. Nice and compact for getting into small spaces. Nice and easy to change the drill bit over when needed

Recently added this to my tool kit having already purchased a corded Bosch the year before. It’s pretty light and compact and very capable. I’ve even chased out walls for back boxes and it’s every bit as good as an electric SDS (was expecting it to struggle but was very pleasantly surprised).

Great sds drill, powerful, lightweight, robust, very bright work light, 5ah batteries last long time. Dewalt became my go to brand, I’ve never been disappointed with a purchase yet and I’m a proud owner of 10 power tools by Dewalt

I bought this model from my local Dewalt factory shop. It’s never let me down. It’s a lot more compact than other SDS drills. It’s got plenty of power and can handle drilling into concrete, stone or brickwork. I use a spade chisel bit on mine and it works a treat.

Battery life is good and in most cases it will last all day on one battery.

I would definitely recommend this drill to anyone

Spent ages looking for the best battery SDS and this has to be the best for its class and size, so much power and still so light and small. Has a really nice feel and build quality.

A great SDS drill which gets daily use and abuse. This combined a with a good set of drill bits is suitable for most drill jobs. I would compare to a hot knife in butter. Have used core drill bits in softer brick and block's without any issues.

Without taking too much away from this drill if you can afford it go for the brushless model although the brushed model is certainly well worth it for the price and won't disappoint. A nice size and balanced weight with a 4ah battery. Well worth a spot in the tool box.

The brushless version feels great. Not too big, great amount of power and a belt clip is great for working off a ladder.
Good on batteries and even abused it a bit with the hammer function. Still going strong.

So I have to say I’m disappointed with this sds which don’t like to admit because I’m a big fan of Dewalt. However I only use this for light-medium work and I’ve had two of these in three years due to it losing power or just cutting out when your mid drill it might just be bad luck I don’t know but I think ill go for the Milwaukee sds next time.

Good all round sds used for small-medium work. Use mine mainly for drilling & hacking of things like tiles. Can’t fault it, last well on my flexvolt batteries.

I’ve had this sds for about 2 years it’s replaced my mains powered sds. Great for doing all general jobs struggles a bit when using core bits but will do the job

Good SDS plenty of power for those small to
Medium drilling applications. Good anti vibration brushed motor gets through some batteries especially when chipping. Good for chasing out.

Great little SDS, I have the brushless one and have abused it. It has taken down multiple chimney stacks, been used to break up concrete, Drill 22mm bit through 500mm thick walls and a lot more besides. A more powerful machine might do it faster but this has always done the job and is still running fine despite never being looked after.

It’s a very good sds drill. Does what it says on the tin. Again for a cordless bit of kit, it’s a reasonable weight depending on battery attached to it.

I have since upgraded to the brushless motor (which I like a lot better).

It has been used on ‘hammer only mode’ for light chasing out of plasterwork. I wouldn’t recommend you use it for anything more than that, as I can see the brushed model (this one), would be put under far to much pressure and load for it.

Best ads out there and light aswell very happy with it.i ve been having two of them one was stolen and never had any problem with them.i would advise people to buy one

Not the cheapest SDS drill about but its needed if you have the dewalt kit. I've had this about 4 years now, it's been in for repair once to get a new hammer mechanism, it's now packed up again, but this is probably becuase it gets used and a sued every day. I've just purchased another bare unit so that speaks for its self.

I had one of these for 4 years before it Finley gave up and I was very impressed with it it’s very light compared to other dewalt models and I used it for everything from chilling out boxes to drilling 25mm holes with the sds plus Masonry bits a very good drill

Hi Bought this a while ago and I use it pretty much every day. It's cheap to buy and it's go so much power behind it. I can't recommend it enough.

Must be one of the best about i used to have 1 until it stopped working. It never let me down when in use everyday it was used for drilling chipping and mixing

I have totally abused this, use it all the time with a tile remover bit while stripping out bathrooms. Even use it for 4” core holes in twin skin walls. It’s starting to complain a bit now but it’s 3 years in having done plenty of jobs it’s not designed to just becuase it’s so much easier to use than my big mains powered versions.
At the price point if it gave up the ghost tomorrow I’d be buying a new one straight away.

I use this mostly for hanging lights on concrete and brick, more recently I used it to chisel away at a lump of concrete and it breezed though it, using the machine is effort less and setting the depth gauge is simple and fast!

I have just purchased this item and am happy to say it’s a fantastic product.
Plenty of power and lightweight compared to my older sds.
The heavy duty belt clip is also a nice touch

Can’t fault this drill, light and comfortable to use, drills up to 24mm into masonry with ease, Also use it to drill 110mm core holes. Excellent for a lightweight battery drill.

Well built, powerful and compact.
This is my go-to tool for chasing, drilling and coring.
Great value for money and it hasn’t let me down.

Brilliant bit of kit. Well worth the money.
This has been thrown around, soaked through, covered in dust and debris from chasing walls and still survives today with no issues apart from cosmetics.

Brilliant power for a cordless. Battery lasts quite a while.
Wouldn’t use anything else for chasing.

Compact enough not to get in the way!

A great drill from dewalt I have had this for a while now and it has been a real work horse it makes easy work of 16/22mm drill holes in both wood and concrete

Had this drill for years now and still as powerful as the day I bought it. Feels better to hold than the Makita equivalent. Anti vibration works great and the clutch kicks in at a reasonable torque.

By far the worse SDS we have purchased. We have four within our company and all have gone wrong, mostly used for drilling 5.5mm and 7mm holes. We have sent back two for repair that have lasted less then one week. We now use a more capable dewalt SDS drill.

I was quite sceptical about getting this after reading reviews online, I must say mine gets used a lot and I’ve had it for over a year now. Still works as new ( although not as clean). Hopefully will last a lot longer then other people have said.

Brought to replace an old corded 240v sds. More than enough power to core 110mm holes through solid walls and the batteries last a long time.

Great multi use drill and can handle most tasks thrown at it. Chisel function is excellent for the softer building materials but for heavier work go bigger! The hammer drill can be a bit harsh so be careful as it does tend to smash through the last bit which isn’t good for face brick. Easy to swap bits out and switch modes. Good all rounder for the price.

Unfortunately for me this tool has let me down. Managed to drill x3 17mm holes in a wall and on the 3rd hole 1/4 way in, I got the dreaded 'smell'. it started to burn out. I stopped. Hopefully after a warranty repair/exchange it'll be great like the other Dewalt tools I have. If so, I'll be back to amend this review.

I've got both types of the sds cordless but this one is my go to as its shorter and seems more powerful. Mainly use it to remove tiles and chasing. Had it for nearly 2 years and requires a bit of wd40 in the shaft now and again but runs like new.

I have the 54v and im very impressed with it except its a bit heavy. So i got this 1 and a lighter version it performs very well.
I find that sometimes the hamer action doesn't work at certain angles.

Only started using one of these this year,its stood up to the test.ive used if for coring 5” holes and it’s done it without any problems.
Another must have tool

Very disappointed by this drill bought mainly for fixing into masonry so 6-8mm holes and within a month the trigger was faulty had it repaired and within another 3 months had it repaired again for the same issue. Can’t fault dewalt on their customer service and warranty repair but I feel this drill wasn’t built with the quality and robustness that dewalt normally provide in their power tools.

Super bit of kit. It's a DeWalt so you can't go wrong. Good product and really does the job well. We use it frequently on all of our jobs. High quality and built well.

Quite powerful for a smaller drill it is quite light and packs a punch but there are better ones out there for the price not too bad on the battery

Brilliant SDS drill got this for ease of use going up high on ladders than using the heavy corded SDS drills. Awesome in weight and can drill into almost everything a corded drill can.

Very good drill perfect for drilling holes for fixings and light chasing. Not very good for coring holes for fans or heavy chasing

All my power tools are the dewalt range. I have the hammer drill and although it isn’t powerful enough to do lots of ongoing drilling such as drilling a hole for a fan it is perfect for drilling holes for fixings or one off holes. I regularly use it to drill 10mm holes through the wall to install tv aerial cables

Great sds, use this for all my box cutter stuff and it don’t complain, not to heavy and battery’s are interchangeable with the 18v range it’s brilliant

Had mine for many years I bought it initially for roto stop to hammer rads when power flushing .core drill for flues Is amazing battery life

Owned this drill for a few years and still going strong. Must have drilled tens of thousands of holes. Also use for chasing out for back boxes etc. Decent battery life, even when chasing. Great value if you already have the batteries.

Bought this for fitting kitchens on a site with no power it must be one of the most used tools now in the artillery it’s out almost every day and used from drilling holes in brickwork to fitting door locks with a keyless chuck and auger

ive had 2 of these over the years and even when i upgraded to the new one i still kept mine as a back up been dropped off scaffolings and everything still pulls its own

Absolutely love this tool not only for the standard hole drilling, I even use it to core flue holes, the hammer mode on it’s great for channelling Out concrete.

Have had this for 18 months and find it a fairly good machine, however it isn’t suited to be used for doing large chipping jobs, so it’s really just a masonry drill for me.

Nowhere near as heavy as the Milwaukee model.

Good drill never let me down had mine for about 4 years came with two 18v 4amp battery’s doesn’t mater how hard the wall is always drills the hole with no bother

Not too heavy. Does everything I need it too. Had mine 3 years with solid daily use now never missed a beat . Even just for one hole it’s lightweight and comfortable to use

This is the first battery powered SDS drill I have every bought. This goes through any type of wall even with 1 meter drill bits. ITs not too heavy and really packs a punch

I had mine for 3 monthes and worked great until one day it just stopped working and when i tried to send it the DeWalt i was told i didnt have the proper recipt to get my 3 year warrenty cover. Was a great light weight easy to ise drill.

Great sds still I didn’t own it but borrowed it and it didn’t disappoint definitely worth every penny they are and will be my next choice

This drill is brilliant, its light and easy to handle, I work in the electrical industry I've had this drill for about 3 months and use it most days, I drill up to 16mm holes into concrete/ brick for rawbolts and it flys through with ease

Great but of kit. Nice and powerful, holds a charge well and very robust. Drills 28mm holes with ease

Very good build very easy to use good value for money a lot more power full than makita rubbish dewalt all the way I used mine to smash up my drive way and it went thought the concrete with ease

Best cordless sds on the market. Would never buy any other make after owning this one. Light enough to use all day without your arms falling asleep. Low vibration, quiet compared to other models but tough enough to cope with most fixing applications, especially recommended for window and door installations

Beast of a drill. However the 54v is even better with a couple of 9.0 batteries last for ages without charging. Highly recommend

Great drill has never let me down powers through pretty much any wall. With a couple of batteries costs about £450 so I would say probably a bit pricey but once you start buying a range you kind of stuck with that if you want the ability to swap batteries etc

Use mine every day for Big and small jobs. Great bit of kit for the money And easy to use And well built

Had this drill for a few months now and had a bit of battering not hesitated one bit brilliant drill and had no issues

Decent drill for the money. Only issue I've had being when drilling into a ceiling dust clogging the chuck and the drill stopping. Quick tap with the palm of your hand and it works fine again.

Great punchy drill, 4amp battery's last ages, good power on hammer only mode makes light work of breeze blocks and softer bricks.

Best drill I have personally used power is great handles everything I throw at it
Feels easy to use not heavy only downside I would say could do with a better torch/light

Had 2 of there's drills over the last couple off years. The 1 I have now I've had about 9 months it's just starting playing up and need to go on for repair. It works for a few small holes then gives up. Don't think there's are the best hammer drill on the market.

Best tool ive ever bought, probably used it every working day since i bought it. Compared to other manufacturers especially the "high end" ones its a bargain!

Great drill and very compact compared to my panasonic. Worked well when drilling 25mm hole about 700mm thick and workex prefect. Would definitely recommend this drill. Only issue i found was cost with them.

This drill is pretty good, as a sparky I'm using it mainly for fixing boxes and the occasional up to 20mm through masonry, it can struggle with the 20mm but always gets there in the end. A good drill but with some limits.

Great drill, got it as part of the kit screwfix we're doing, can't fault it. Manages 25mm with ease, one downside I did notice was the 2nd spin out handle works loose over time

This is probably the most useful tool I've bought for a few years. Since buying it, I don't think I've used my corded SDS.
It's so useful and easy to use. Built really well and as it saves time, (Over using and corded sds) it's good value for money.

Great and powerful tool. Not too big either! Ever so happy with the perchace of my dewalt power tools and have never been let down by them. They can take a good beating and still perform like new. Especially the SDS. It's such a time saver! It's small yet packs a decent punch, making even the hardest wall like butter. Wouldn't know where I'd be without my SDS!
