A very good quality steel that can produce a razor sharp edge after a few quick rubs along the blade edge. The steel comes with a coloured hanging loop on the handle and a rubber bung on the tip which helps identify what grit the steel is.
There is also a large cross shaped guard at the top of the handle to help reduce cuts during sharpening.
