Brought this for my dad as he tried my pro combi drill and loved it. So easy to use, not great for constant drilling but great that they have done away with the plastic housing and gone for metal like the rest of the LXT range, I had the model down from this and with everything Makita it can take a beating and holds up well.

These are good entry level from the professional Makita range. Unlike one of the reviews on here they are NOT very powerful and at the same time they are not that bad. If it’s power you want, go for the dhp481. This has insane power but is 3 times the price!

Bought this to replace my last makita (clutch had gone - after 5 years hard work) these are great rugged drills that take a battering - mine fell off of some scaffolding 3 floors up and just bounced! Not even a scratch and works fine! Versatile powerful enough for most jobs and comfortable. Get one!

Have had 2 of these drills in my time and were very good but when used for screwing in quite long screws into wood the 2 of the clutches started to slip. Had to buy an impactor instead to finish job but brother in law using them at the minute. Good for normal work but dont stand up to serious abuse.
