SPEEDSKIM SEMI FLEXIBLE PLASTERING RULE - ST

I'm a bathroom fitter, not a plasterer, but I used the OX Speedskim 900mm to get a wall flat for tiling, and it worked a treat. After removing the old tiles and bonding the wall, I needed to make sure the surface was completely flat before tiling, since tiles don’t bend! The Speedskim helped me smooth out any lumps and bumps quickly, giving me the perfect surface to work with.

It’s not about a paintable finish for me, but rather making sure the wall is level and strong for tiling. Normally, when plasterers skim, the wall can still be a bit uneven, but using the Speedskim myself gave me the confidence that everything was flat and ready for tiling.

Great tool, does exactly what I needed—definitely recommend it for anyone prepping walls for tiling.

It’s pretty good at flattening out large areas with minimal effort. I recommend the OX Speedskim because It’s great for getting a wall nice and smooth, ready for the top coat and finish.

We used this on a job with a good sized wall and a chimney breast.

Even though it’s plastic you can tell it’s good quality because the blade is nice and rigid and you can still get a lot of pressure on it. Having used other speedskims in the past, the OX Speedskim is definitely worth it’s weight in gold when it comes to backing coats and renders. However I’d like to try the Stainless Steel OX Speedskim because I noticed plastic speedskims tend to not do as well on multi-finishes, but apart from that, it’s a great tool.
