Avoid at all costs, used years ago and it wasn't a bad service, now it's full of customers who don't want to pay a decent price and DIY Dave's pretending to be tradesmen at half the price. You get to pay way to much for a lead you won't get because you don't offer a bargain basement price

Very expensive service to start with.
You may endup paying for nothing and they won’t refund money.
Not worth money or hassle. There is much better alternatives

I had a lead on my builder and they customer gave me her number via messages in there site. She the customer told me she was speaking with another 4 trades about the work and will decide who gets it on the cheapest quote which is fair enough. NOW my builder tells me I have to pay £40 for the lead. So they have made £200 and no one has been guaranteed the work. I will not be paying them they can take me to court as I’m sure the judge will laugh and throw it out of court. Just curious to see if this has happened to anyone else

They need to make clear to customers that any builders they choose to quote are paying to do so .
The money they have had for dead leads , and persons who don't even want a quote. Fleecing us basically.
Today I completed a job that I can't request acceptance for . So others are opting to quote and pay for a job that's completed. Awful really

Finding the same as many other tradesmen using MyBuilder. High fees on low paying jobs. Jobs that you get shortlisted but never get awarded. Customer not answering or responding to messages, then confirming job done two days later??!?!? Probably fake jobs to con guys out of their hard earned cash. Customer service couldn't give a toss. As a Tradesman, avoid avoid avoid. Now telling all clients to not use MyBuilder.

I AM A PLASTERING TRADESMAN. I HAVE BEEN WITH MY BUILDER FOR SEVERAL YEARS . I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION ,ALONG WITH OTHERS THAT THIS COMPANY [MY BUILDER .COM] SHOULD BE REPORTED TO TRADING STANDARDS . I HAVE PAID FOR SEVERAL BOGUS [IN MY OPINION] LEADS, WITH NO CHANCE OF A REFUND . THIS COMPANY HAS NO TELEPHONE NUMBER TO MAKE A COMPLAINT , THE CEO IS NOT INTERESTED, ONLY INTERESTED IN MONEY . WHAT MY BUILDER DONT REALISE IS THAT US TRADESMEN PAY THERE WAGES . MY BUILDER HAVE OVER THE YEARS GOT GREEDY , THEY ALLOW 5 TRADES TO BE SHORTLISTED .SO THE TRADESMEN ONLY HAVE A 1 IN 5 CHANCE OF GETTING THE JOB . MY ADVICE PAY THE EXTRA AND LOOK AT CHECK A TRADE OR TRUST A TRADER , .DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR DO NOT USE MY BUILDER .

Shocking, rip-off, money grabbing cretins !
I got shortlisted for a job for a £30 fee, I was shortlisted at 8pm, I noticed the shortlist at 10pm (can’t call a customer then) Called customer at 9am the next day, no answer. Figured they were at work and I would call in the evening on the same day, before I got the chance the customer messaged me on my builder app saying sorry but “there’s been a family tragedy so they don’t want the work doing now” Asked my builder to waive the shortlist fees…….apparently that’s not in their policy, although it does state that if the customer cancels the job within 24hrs of being shortlisted.
I’ve now looked further into my builder and have seen this EXACT and I mean EXACT as in word for word thing happen to countless other traders…..suspicious! I’ve also read of countless fake leads appearing where no body shortlisted can get hold of the customer…..then a week later the same job appears and guess what the same phone number, again no response from said number !
Fake leads, ZERO chance of a refund even when the customer messages on the app and my builder can see the message declining before you’ve had a chance to quote.
Trust me my tradesman counterparts AVOID and pay a bit for for check a trade or anyone other MYBUILDER rip off ! Rant over
Review for MyBuilder by Thomas manning joinery26th February 2023
Went self employed over christmas, looked into mybuilder to find a couple jobs here and there.. Had a couple of decent jobs completed, a lot of shortlists which didn't come off, I suspect due to customers having unrealistic expectations as to the cost of things..
The real kick to the teeth came when I got shortlisted for a job, text the customer, heard nothing. Ring; nothing. Email via mybuilder and finally get a reply; "we've changed our mind, we don't want it doing any more.."
Good luck trying to get a refund from this bunch of money grabbing bustards. On a site that has builders bending over backwards for positive reviews from unreasonable customers, the have a total disregard for their customers feedback.
I just wish mybuilder was subjected to their own review system from their paying customers.. doubt anyone would shortlist them..
Review for MyBuilder by Cascade Tiling13th February 2023
Absolute joke the way the shortlist fees are calculated. £10 + vat to quote for a 3.5 square metre hall floor and I had to be competitive in my quote or I’d have been unrealistic. By the time I’ve visited the property to look at the floor, worked out the quote in my own time, driven to the material supplier and the completed the work I made a grand total of about £80. It’s just simply not worth it. You have gardeners and carpenters showing interest in tiling jobs and the competition is too much. There are also useless unskilled tradesmen quoting pennies to do work who win the job and then mess it up, then I get an invite from the job poster to come and out it right, so I’m being charged 2 lots of shortlist fees if I express interest in it. Mybuilder don’t care at all, the only thing they want is your money. Horrible company that you should avoid.
Review for MyBuilder by Creek Maintenance11th December 2022
Well I have just started a MyBuilder account and profile, and you guessed it! I have now realised that you have to pay them only if your are shortlisted on the front cover this seems a good deal, However! if you show interest in a job and then so does 3,4,5,6 etc does and the customer who is looking for someone (who none of them are told that every time they shortlist a builder they have to pay the shortlist fee!) all of a sudden you can find that you have worked 1 or 2 days for nothing as the shortlist fee grows and you are not winning the jobs, I have had 3 customers now that have shortlisted 4 or more of us, This should only be charged to the builder if they win the job NOT FOR JUST BEING GIVEN A CONTACT! which I am now starting to realise not all of the customers are either nice or genuine if you get my meaning, last customer when asked for job details gave even less information via text than was on their mybuilder post, HOW THE HELL CAN YOU GIVE A TRUE QUOTE WHEN YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR QUOTING FOR MY BUILDER??
Review for MyBuilder by Stable Foundations Ltd.21st November 2022
What a disgusting company.
I've started a new business and decided to use their "services" to get some jobs since registration was free. I kept thinking I only had to pay if I pressed the shortlist button to jump the queue, but that's not the case. You get charged everytime someone decides to shortlist you. So I ended up receiving an invoice and now I have to pay £149? For what? I didn't get a single job out of them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DISGUSTING AND CRIMINAL.

We had a business profile with MyBuilder for over 3 years, invested plenty of time and money with the platform only to find out they were telling a client of our to leave negative feedback because she couldn't get hold of us for some reason. We had a 97% positive feedback. We challenged them and at first we were ignored and then our business profile was simply deleted and they then emailed our clients to tell them that our profile had been deleted because of poor reviews. Shocking.

Review for MyBuilder by non27th June 2022
As a tradesman, firstly i wouldn't recommend this site to other trades people, the percentage they use to charge for the leads is out of scew, and i believe there is a lot of empty leads , a bit like when an auctioneer bounces bids off a wall, yes that is a thing, wether thats legal or not i don't know, and how do you prove it, ive been on that site for 18months and it seems to have a repeated pattern of so called leads, ie after christmas holidays.
Review for MyBuilder by Sophie Hall27th May 2022
Might be good for customers but bad for trades, especially gardeners. The rates for shortlist fees seem to be really skewed based on a few different things the customer selects about the job, regardless of what they want when you actually turn up. Costs for leads are not refunded even when no one is hired, and I think it would be easy for the company to just create fake accounts and fake jobs to cream off the shortlist fees then abandon the leads because their refund policy is insanely strict. Even if you've been the only person interested and shortlisted for a job which then gets cancelled they refuse to refund. Avoid if possible, they only care about money, not about honest traders doing good work.
Review for MyBuilder by Plumb Gas & Heat Ltd23rd March 2022
My builders, well the problem is you have to pay for leads, so i believe three people can buy the lead, but problem is if you don't get the job, then you just wasted your money, and if this happens on a few occasions then you can imagine how much money you loose. So it's such an expensive way to get jobs in. So we do not do it anymore as it started to cost us alot off money and not win jobs.

Review for MyBuilder by SC Electrics5th February 2022
When I first opened on my own, mybuilder helped me to build my business and was a good source of work.
Once they started advertising on TV it went severely downhill, checks on contractors must have been poor and anyone allowed to join and apply for all jobs. Diy daves underpricing jobs.
Customers became bargain hunters only wanting the cheapest over quality.
The pricing for job leads has become extortionate and too many contractors allowed to quote for a lead which means you get to pay for nothing.
Review for MyBuilder by Cavendish Electrical Services2nd February 2022
I see some bad reviews here for MyBuilder but for me, it has built up my business considerably. I prefer this business model, where you choose which jobs you are interested in, rather than have people contact you out of the blue for a job that you may not be interested in. When a (potential) customer shortlists you, you are charged. I have paid for more leads for jobs I did not win than jobs I did, but that is immaterial if you are charging jobs to cover all your costs. As I am a nice chap who gets on with people easily, I have gained loads of additional work from customers who I have done a good initial job for, and they refer me to friends, so to my mind it is worth every penny. Go for the smaller jobs first to get some feedback before going for the bigger ones. I have found customer service to be very quick in replying when I have had to get in touch. One word of warning however - the layout design of the app makes it easy to accidentally mark a job as one you are interested in, which can lead to a shortlist which of course you are charged for. Typical fees are £4.50 + vat for changing a light fitting to £31 + vat for a total rewire, so can be expensive if you dont get the job (there are normally 3 or more interested in a rewire for example). As you do not have to buy credits up front to use the service, it is effectively a pay as you go affair so give it a try!

Unprofessional and unfair! I've made an account as a plumber about 2 months ago and for some reason they close my account without any explanation. it was strange as I had only positive feedback and comments! So without any explanation the will close your account if they feel like! So for me, Mybuilders is an unprofessional and unfair website for tradesmen! 0 Stars Mybuilders!
Review for MyBuilder by RMD Electrical Services18th June 2021
I hear good things about My Builder and often retry it now and then to try and convince myself but in reality you are going to pay for a phone number for a customer that either just window shopping or you are competing against other trades that seem to work for next to nothing. I certainly wouldnt use a tradesman from here for my own home and not because you are going to get a rogue trader but I know they do not vet their trades, whilst I was a member I sent a simple email requesting to be advertised in other specialist areas, the only way they vetted me was by answering some multiple choice questions in that subject
Review for MyBuilder by SGKC Electrical13th May 2021
Once upon a tome used to be a good site, too many cowboys not being properly checked out and verified, too many customers expecting things done cheaply, they shortlist you and you get charged even if you can’t make contact.

Well I think n by now you must have an idea of how poor the service is by looking at the overall ratings of my builder - doesn't really serve trade's it's built more for homeowners looking for someone on the cheap
Review for MyBuilder by Neptune Property Service12th February 2021
Very poor set up for the trades though most already know this. No where on their sites does it inform potential customers that the trades have to pay to use it and it is mainly used by people looking to get the absolute cheapest prices or to push your quote down. The site is full of cowboys despite claims they check people my friend managed to sign up as a roofer simply by googling the answers to the sign up questions. Personally I avoid it completely now.

I dip in and out of this website. I find people using it to confirm quotes already received rather than to shop around. My last 2 quotes were after the customers usual plumber quoted to replace a boiler, I basically backed up his opinions and even though I was cheaper (just) they went with him.

Review for MyBuilder by Sussex View Electrical and Property Services27th September 2020
Like any other lead company be prepared to gain or loss leads at a cost. You can get some time wasters as well as others inviting all 8+ trades persons to give a quote. You can also get customers shortlisting you 3 months down the line when you are full booked and still get charged by MyBuilder for it.

It’s ok to get started, but generally seems to be people who want stuff done for nothing, also had a couple of people to shortlist me only to never answer calls or messages so pick your jobs carefully
Review for MyBuilder by Skillz Builders24th September 2020
I guess if you were on this at the start of it you have some reviews built up and this makes it easier to win the jobs. Trying to get a start now is very difficult. There are usually quite a few shortlisted for every job in my sector.
If you see a job that doesn’t have a shortlist it probably means the customer has had loads of interest and hasn’t got round to shortlisting yet. With no or very few ratings it can be hard to make the shortlist or if you do get shortlisted you will need to be considerably cheaper than the tradesmen with a lot of reviews and due to there being so much competition price wise it’s sort of a race to the bottom with in my view some insanely low prices being quoted to win the job. Obviously if you get shortlisted you pay even if when you call the customer they say they decided to go with another guy called first without even seeing you. It doesn’t work for me but I do know people who do ok from it in other sectors

I am signed up to my builder and use it on the odd chance. Lots of jobs get posted but you notice at times you can have 10+ people interested so hard for good installers to be seen. I am annoyed when you get shortlisted but the lead becomes dead due to them not wanting the work done or they’ve picked someone in a day. You would think my builder would help by not charging you but they seem to not care. I think they have lots to improve on with certain aspects.

Once shortlisted, pay the bill, even if the client never contacts you.
Allowing charater assassination by unreasonable clients, with no really right for redress.

AWFUL SITE, LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR WORK.

Impossible to do a job properly to a high standard when the platform sells leads to everyone and vets noone cowboys and substandard tradesmen galore. We all know a cheap job is not necessarily a good one and some of the prices I've lost to were unreasonably low no chance of doing a proper Job in any respect.
Avoid like the plague if your a professional and would actually like to complete a job to a high standard and make enough money to live on.
Review for MyBuilder by Fine Finish Decorating25th February 2020
I was shortlisted for a high value job, customer didn't respond and mybuilder still wanted their pound of flesh! I refuse to pay for an unresponsive lead.
The shorlisting feature is unrestricted in as far as the customer can shortlist as many tradesmen as they like, leaving sometimes 7 or 8 tradesmen fighting for one job. Meanwhile Mybuilder are raking in the cash from each lead. This business is based on greed and there is no loyalty or regard for the tradesmen. I have now signed up with Checkatrade and am extremely happy with the service.

Every time I spoke to customer services they’ve been good to me (apart from the hard sale).
The problem I have (for example an EICR) is I have all the correct insurances, qualifications and experience in place, I will be placing an estimate next to someone who does not and will be cheaper due to this .
Because of the MyBuilder branding the customer thinks everyone has the correct qualifications et cetera to do their job. So I find lose the work to the non-qualified and incorrectly insured cowboy.
Review for MyBuilder by Absolute PhD2nd October 2019
Mybuilder is good for one thing and that’s cheap easy jobs. However it has created a race to the bottom atmosphere. It sides with customers and not the professionals and allows multiple tradesmen to go for the same job and if they all get shortlisted then they all pay. Vicious cycle
Review for MyBuilder by Chalmers Gas & Heating LTD16th September 2019
Mybuilder is a total waste of time. They actually encourage the customer to shortlist as much as 5 tradesmen for a service or tap change, it’s absolutely disgraceful. They make their money from getting as many shortlist fees as they can. It’s a total race to the bottom. I still keep the eye out for the odd job here and there but i’ll never go and compete with 4 other companies to change a trv

I first starting using my builder when I first went self employed, hard to get into Carpentry at an older age, no one to give you a chance so started doing domestic work on my own. Anyway it can be expensive and there are a lot of customers that have champagne taste but lemonade money.
I never reduce my cost and so have done pretty well out of it but you have to be careful selecting the customer. I have completed about 30 jobs on my builder but have probably paid for 60-70 leads.
I may have been lucky but the jobs I have won I have done very well out of and have many referrals from the work that I have done. More often then not I usually get 1-2 more jobs out of it.
One customer gave me a whole years worth of work. About £30,000 from just a an initial £10 lead. So it can work out well.
Review for MyBuilder by Connor's Heating Solutions Ltd15th August 2019
I use MyBuilder occasionally when it's very slow. I don't get into bidding wars with other trades people, I select (as carefully as I can) the people/jobs on offer, I state my estimated price and state they should only shortlisted me if they want my services. It has worked for me so far...
Review for MyBuilder by Lee Key Plumbers4th August 2019
I wouldn't use these. I find the people that use this site are just after getting a trades man to their work at DIY prices. Some ridiculous prices requested. One wanting a whole bathroom supplied and fitted for less than the cost of the materials.
Review for MyBuilder by Bean Plumbing & Heating Services18th July 2019
In short don’t bother!
I used these to fill gaps in my diary when I first started up but as you pay for the lead and there is no guarantee of any work you’re often paying out for no benefit. It’s also a race to get shortlisted. I found that all it attracts is people who can’t do it themselves but want jobs done for nothing. But if you pay nothing you’ll get a crap job. You get what you pay for.

I used these during my first year of trading as a sole trader and got a couple of jobs but it turned out to be a race to the bottom.
Lowest price wins or the first person to get to the job. If you have more than a days work in front of you then don't bother. They attract startups so there is alway new competition supplying their services for minimum wage. You pay for the lead if you get shortlisted and don't tell the job poster those details so, they shortlist you for advice and move on to the cheapest quote.

I hear a lot of people knocking my Builder, but I find it very handy. If I’ve got plenty of work on, then it costs me nothing, if I’ve got some gaps in the calendar then I start showing interest in jobs and give a rough quote to weed out the people who are looking for unreasonable work at an unreasonable price. If you work it right it’s a great asset

I have used my builder to pick up the odd job during a quiet spell. I like it for the fact you don't have to sign up to any contract. The only downside is if you get shortlisted for a lead, which you then pay for, you don't get your money back if the customer does not get back in touch with you or has changed their mind.

Good is you have a quick spell. You can just log on and go for a job. You can see before hand what it’s going to cost you. There’s no monthly fee. So id you don’t use it then your not being charged. Pricing is a bit funny at times.

I tried my builder but it seems that it attracts the type of customer who wants the best but isn’t prepared to pay for quality. I think the pricing is a bit high too. Prospective customers are unaware the we pay for a lead.
Review for MyBuilder by Northwest Engineers8th December 2018
When I started out I tried my builder and absolutely hated it, obviously when a job had gone active you show interest you get billed for it and you quote for it and your the only time one who’s shown interest from mybuilder but don’t get the job or more than 3 business show interest but still get billed for it, it’s all wrong. Really don’t use them waste of money and time
Review for MyBuilder by Thoroughbuild UK Services Ltd27th November 2018
We are on mybuilder and very rarely use it I'm afraid. The price they charge for the leads is becoming rather stupid, plus we did have a dispute once and mybuilder did not help at all. It is made purely for customers to get the silliest quote possible. Does not help the tradesman. Plus I do believe that we had a fake job post once.
Review for MyBuilder by Norwich Heating Services16th October 2018
Awful. I was a member when I first started out as self employed but thought the whole concept was flawed. Customers assign a value to a job. How would the customer know how much it costs for me to fit radiators even if they have had a similar job done before? You then pay to respond to the lead based on the value the customer assigned.
I would never use them again and would suggest no one else does either.
Review for MyBuilder by Classichomesolutions1st October 2018
Well where to start ...they make money from leads you don’t get ,.,,,,the amount of times I’ve shown interest in work then you get shortlisted once u are short listed u pay a fee even if u don’t get the job and 99 % of the time the client is either quote finding or the job ain’t what they describe ....waste of time save ya money
Review for MyBuilder by HLG Decorating Solutions4th September 2018
My builder is okay as a second source of work leads but not your main. Most of the time its people posting very little information on job lead which you would have to show interest in just to find out more information which in most cases loses you money. Although if you have a 100% positive feedback its a good accreditation to show. Every now and then you will find the odd good job but most of the time its people looking for the cheapest quote.
Review for MyBuilder by Esspro Property Services12th August 2018
I have been on My builder for a while now and have worked hard on my profile page with pretty much no success. I have shown interest in 100's of leads with no return. I now only use it as a type of accreditation but would not recommend this as a stand alone tool to gain work
Review for MyBuilder by PipeDream Plumbing28th July 2018
Poor customer service. Cheapest price wins most jobs on here. I've purchased leads and had no contact with the customer. Overall I would say avoid these sites and spend your time promoting yourself elsewhere.
Review for MyBuilder by LH ELECTRICAL14th July 2018
I haven’t used for a while but I still get notifications which seem consistent so they must get a fair share of jobs. I have used it to fill gaps and been fortunate to have repeat custom from just a few leads but I also have had time wasters on there and a lot of trades under cutting as it’s almost a glorified auction but if you budget it within your marketing spend it can be well worth it.
Review for MyBuilder by Bells Heating & Gas1st July 2018
Customer service is none existant, tried paying for leads but system just refuses how i pay or says error. Waste of time.
Review for MyBuilder by S Court Plumbing29th June 2018
Prices are rising it was once much cheaper to use. They don’t send a huge amount of work over but I like the fact there is no subscription so you can pick and chose jobs if you have a gap.
Review for MyBuilder by Michael Frith Plumbing22nd May 2018
Have been using this company for over a year now, not had a probkem with them & has filled gaps in diary. As long as you check the description of the work customer wants doing befire committing & i always put in my introduction when I'm next available so customers don't shortlist me if they want work doing quickly
Review for MyBuilder by Celtic Plumbing and Heating Services Ltd10th May 2018
Easy to fall back on if you have space to fill in your diary. Plenty of leads sent through which covers a wide scope of work. Never had a problem with them and has filled empty spaces on many occasions.
Review for MyBuilder by DCA Heating & Plumbing21st December 2017
i started using my builder when i 1st became self employed and had gaps in my diary i have had some really good jobs come from it and only have good things to say, the leads are alot cheaper than rated people and i think the customers are a bit more realistic with there budgets etc on here
Review for MyBuilder by Thistle Plumbing Services Ltd10th December 2017
Basically its a site for Rogue customers to get work doe for free or they agree a price for work to be done then once work co pleted they decide what to pay the tradesman. Never using these type of sites again.
Review for MyBuilder by OnFlo - Plumbing & Heating Services9th December 2017
I have been self employed a year now, I had no customer base when I started out so I used MyBuilder to buy leads to get customers. I now have a established customer base thanks to this company.
Review for MyBuilder by Gas Smart Home Services5th December 2017
Not impressed at all - they charge you for a lead that usually the customer doesnt want! The leas prices dont match the job. All the customers on it are cheap scates
Review for MyBuilder by Mark Hughes2nd December 2017
Lots of leads were people either want it done today , for pennies or are just looking for a price so they can go back to another fitter, will see what the new year brings , ok for filling periods that you are quiet
Review for MyBuilder by GQ Heating Ltd1st December 2017

Review for MyBuilder by Northumberland Double Glazing Repairs1st December 2017
We found that a lot of the jobs posted are from people who are either looking for a job done for peanuts or people who "Are just getting an idea of prices". Mybuilder are basically just after your money.
Review for MyBuilder by Agnitio Plumbing & Heating22nd October 2017
The majority of people who want work done via my builder want it done for peanuts saying that if your a bit on the quiet side can be helpful but wouldnt really recommend to anyone as it can cost you more especially when you first start if self employed
Review for MyBuilder by D. Barrett Decorating10th October 2017
Majority of customers on here expect a job done for pennies, do not realise that to even contact them costs us money for a job we probably won't get. For short term gaps in work yes it can work however I try to avoid the site

It's an ok services if you want to fill up gaps and pay for small jobs then you can make money but do a agree it can be a waste of money and experience
Review for MyBuilder by Plumb CO20th July 2017
I only ever bought one lead and it is just a race to the bottom so i have never bothered again. People from up to 60 miles away getting shortlisted for changing an electric shower doing it for peanuts.
Review for MyBuilder by Bright Home Improvements18th July 2017
From experience I would say useless as the customer service is shockingly rude and very unhelpful, job leads are all to expensive with no guarantee of a job at the end of it but you still have to pay for the lead,
Only one company earning money hear?
Review for MyBuilder by JR Williams Plumbing Services4th July 2017
I joined mybuilder as a way to increase business. Similar to rated people, you buy a lead. However, on 4 occasions I have bought leads (and these can cost £28) and you can't get hold of the customer even though you've rang and rang and even text and emailed to the point of harassment. At this point, rated people would refund you due to no contact. Mybuilder don't. I've spent around £120 on leads and got 2 Jobs. Granted, both large jobs but still £120! I don't use them anymore.
Review for MyBuilder by BH Property Services3rd July 2017
I've been self employed 3 years and signed up to my builder from the start. I've only done one job on there. The leads can be expensive for what they are for so by the end of it even if you get the job you can't earn much from it.
Review for MyBuilder by Elements Heating Installations2nd July 2017
The only person winning here is my builder. The leads are not qualified or limited to a certain amount of interest. Refunds are not possible. This is the biggest gamble
Review for MyBuilder by PPH south Ltd11th June 2017
Waste of time. Getting charged silly amounts just to be put in touch with customers many of whom are just looking for a rough price with no intentions of having work done. The jobs that do transfer into work are few and far between
Review for MyBuilder by PG Plumbing11th June 2017
Since going self employed nearly 3 years ago I used mybuilder from the start .
They used to be really good and I would get lots of decent work from them
However recently I have found that the level of leads are not that great and to be honest even though I'm still registered with them I very rarely do go for the leads
Review for MyBuilder by LS Plumbing & Heating11th June 2017
The customer service from my build is shocking. They charge too much for job leads. Most of the customers don't realise we have to pay when they shortlist us. 50% of the time they shortlist me and I ring them and tell me someone else is doing the job and won't even let us quote. Waste of time and money grabbers if you ask me.
Review for MyBuilder by Stour Valley Plumbing1st June 2017
Job leads too expensive and lots of customers don't want jobs doing they are just considering and getting ideas of price which tradesmen have to pay for, avoid this site

Review for MyBuilder by S.Whitham Plastering & Rendering2nd May 2017
Love hate relationship with mybuilder. Got a lot of work through them but the while way they do business is underhand and sneaky. The homeowners don't even realise that we are paying for leads they really ram it down the homeowners throat to invite as many trades to quote as possible for more money in shortlist fees. There are far to many competitors on mybuilder send prices plummeting. The one thing that used to be good was that if you had lots.of good reviews this was made clear to the potential customer and you had more chance of being shortlisted recently I have noticed that on when you express intrested the only thing that comes up is 100% feedback. So basically someone could have 1 job on there and show the same 100% feedback as me with 35. 35 100% feedback is far harder to achieve than 1 100% feedback. Just another con so the homeowner shortlists more people and lines the directors pocket.

Bit to much competition on my builder, although I have picked a few jobs up though that's moved onto other things, so not all bad.. just got to be smart about what leads you choose.
Review for MyBuilder by Lock'n'Secure Locksmiths2nd May 2017
Tried this service from the customer side of things and was astounded by the results I got when searching for a local (Basingstoke) locksmith; the majority of the suppliers recommended were based in London some 40 miles away. Checking their details also showed that they didn't cover Hampshire so how/why did they appear in the search results?
Review for MyBuilder by Robinson Heating20th April 2017
I'm very picky with jobs I go for but have picked up a few decent customers through mybuilder.
It's an ok gap filler and if you use it as such and don't expect huge volume then it is OK, also positive reviews help to build up your Web presence, have won customers just through them seeing my reviews and contacting me directly instead.
Review for MyBuilder by Sunrise Plumbing & Heating20th April 2017
We do get leads through my builder but we don't follow them up for several reasons.
- lead fees seem don't seem to relate to the job sent through.
- your charged even if you don't get a quote
- customers seem to want something for nothing
Invest your money elsewhere rather than pay to piss in the same pot as a load of other engineers
Review for MyBuilder by Integrated Engineering (SW) Ltd T/A Bristol Gas16th April 2017
Had a couple of good leads off of it which means it has more than paid for itself so far thankfully.
My god you end up spending a lot of money for little gain with if you're not careful. Timewasters, false leads, customers who don't even contact you back even tho they've shortlisted you, people who expect something for nothing, the list goes on.
If you need the work it can work ok i guess. I tried it out as I saw a couple of interesting leads to start off. In the end I knocked out on the head as it can be very expensive, especially if you don't really need the work.
Be wary that they offer no refunds so when you think you have been duped there is no way of getting your money back. It's certainly making someone a lot of money who isn't actually doing the work.

I have posted interest in many jobs, but others may have done a lot of work through them, I have never had a single job out of it.I suspect the jobs posted have been previously quoted for, because a lot of the posts seem very well informed, for Joe public, so they are looking for a rock bottom price.Others post crap so more info is needed to accept the inquiry , so another waste of time. A bit like fishing with a grenade, except you dropping money instead of grenades.

This company sounds worse than rated people.
WHY do you, the members GIVE them YOUR money.
All these companies are a waste of time and want your money, so yes they will sell the lead 3 times and not give a refund.
I once had a boiler lead company ring me asking for money for a lead, I never even had it.
Just won't entertain any of these companies that want paying for things

Bit of a pain when customers pull out and your left with the lead charge to pay for no work gained
Review for MyBuilder by Fitzgerald Electrical & Plumbing Solutions28th November 2016
Don't bother guys!!!!
You purchase leads that have been priced by someone who has no idea what the job involves !
So a simple re plumb of a shower could be put in the price bracket of a bathroom refurb! That will set you back over £20 + vat,
You basically put your name forward to quote on the job if your chosen you get get charged the fee, this is ok if only you are chosen and get the job, if as is usually the case 3-5 company's are chosen they are all charged the fee! No matter who gets the job.
Some leads are not real leads the customer just wants an idea of the cost of a job so you will be charged the fee if your chosen and there is no job!! You get billed weekly and it can soon run up!
Beware of false requests too, as they sometimes send you emails saying a job poster has seen your profile and would like you to quote i.e. Put your name in the hat to be chosen, this is usually just someone attaching local jobs to you or computer generated going to local tradesmen.
Review for MyBuilder by PM Tiling18th November 2016
I use this site and have only had minor problems with job leads, the customer service could be better as sometimes the leads are a waste of money or a wrong description or higher spec has been given.. when questioned for lead money returned the reply is...' we are cheaper than other lead based sites so out lead costs aren't refunded as we don't take a quarterly payment either.'... so beware and be choosy when purchasing leads.
Review for MyBuilder by Solar Windows & Conservatories Ltd15th November 2016
MyBuilder used to be ok when it first set up. You were invoiced after you completed the work. Trouble is when it became popular, they changed it to buying the lead info. That can mean paying for the pleasure of customers getting an idea of the cost only to decide to scrap their plans
Review for MyBuilder by S Naylor Plumbing & Heating15th November 2016
Not a good site, along with any pay per lead site. Tradesmen are left wide open to abuse from customers shortlisting them just to get a quote with no intention of using them. No support from mybuilder for tradesmen as they always side with the job posters.

Review for MyBuilder by D ferguson roofing and construction21st October 2016
at first it is a promising website.. good for a new starter looking to get there customer Base off the ground. some of the pricing per lead is unrealistic. also the comment side can be very harsh on businesses. I think before negative or neutral or positive feedback is left I think there should be a 3 to 5 day cooling off period before it goes on the account so if it's bad or neutral it gives the traders time to fix any problems or make amends anything that could be wrong , rather than just go straight onto profile

I dont rate mybuilder there is to much people posting jobs just for quotes or just to see what the cost would be
Review for MyBuilder by Hampshire Handyman Services18th August 2016
Mybuilder should only be used as a stop gap to fill in some gaps in your working week. I have obtained some very good return custom from the site but feel it wouldn't necessarily fit all trades ie heating engineers as most I've seen only want quotes.
Review for MyBuilder by Twynings Electrical9th August 2016
Does provide you with genuine leads but prices have shot up recently and there also seems to be a lot of new members all fighting for the same work and undercutting each other. Good at navigating and has some good features. If you need to use a lead generating site for the least amount of money (that will cruelly give you viable leads) this is useful.

Answered on 24th September 2020 by Sandwich electrical
I've used mybuilder for a while as an electrician. It took quite a while to get a lead as customers don't seem to like tradespeople with no or few reviews. But once I got going, I found it to be quite successful. The best part about it, once you meet the customer and they like you, you'll get repeat custom from them as well as recommendations through word of mouth. All for free. You may have to accept spending and losing a bit of money at the start but persistence will pay off. **Top tip, go for the small jobs where the lead doesn't cost too much. Get a few good reviews before chasing the big leads so you have the reviews to back you up.
