I’ve always had rothenberger slices since college, always replaced the wheels until they completely knackered. Changed to the Nerrad Pro versions of there slices with HSS blades, the 15 & 22 and miles ahead of the rothenbergers, much more compact and cut far better, the 28mm are good when they want to be, can do an install and be fine all day but suddenly they’ll start spirally and then playing up, end up needing a whack or shake to sort them out so a bit of a pain but hear everyone has the same problem.

Nice pipe slice.
Nice design for grip and slim. Easy upkeep with holes to squirt lube into.
Cuts well, fast and clean. Its a little on the expensive side. Unfortunately the replacement wheel is very over priced.
Considering the wheel is hss and cuts copper very quick. The slightest twitch or not realising the pipe isnt copper then kiss the wheel good bye. Good idea but doesnt quite deliver on the promise.

I bought the 15mm and 22mm Nerrad pipe slices after having many different brands of pipe slices.
These have a bigger diameter than the most commonly used but nowhere near as big as the orange coloured pipe slices. However saying that they are the narrowest pipe slices I have come across, so when it comes to cutting as close to the wall as possible; these will do it.
I find using these pipe slices for nearly a year now the hss cutting wheel lasts longer than all other brands I have owned. The cutting motion is the smoothest. To begin with these Nerrad pipe slices would cut the pipe with just a few rotations, so very quick. I have noticed that as time has gone on it takes a while longer, however this could be that I need to change the cutting wheel.
The pipe slices have a really good feel to them and gives a really good grip when using.
One thing I like about these is a quick squirt of wd40 into purpose maintenance ports helps keep the wheels running free without having to take the whole pipe slice apart.
Best slices I have ever owned, I would have given full stars but prices are more expensive than other brand of slices but worth it. These could be made better by making them a smaller diameter.

Few years back at a trade show I took the plunge and bought one of each 15mm, 22mm & 28mm Pipe slices, cannot say a bad word about them, they are slightly skinnier than the likes of Kopex & monument tools which has come in handy. I have had to replace the cutting wheel on both 15mm & 22mm, again no issues and cutting wheels are fairly priced.

By far the best cutters I've owner, got everything from 10mm to 28mm, very sharp and reliable. Keep them dry and sprayed with wd40 every time I use them. So far haven't changed the wheel blade and I have had them for 2 years now. Great investment.

Big fad about Nerrad cutters about a year ago, they were all the rage, so I bought a pair to see what all the fuss was about. They're ok, still the ones I use most days, I like that they're slimmer than other models which is useful for really tight spaces, but they're also larger circumference than other makes, not so good when you're tight up against a wall.
As others have mentioned, factory blade wears out very quickly, with a generic blade replacement, they work well again.

These are great for a very short while. If used on a daily basis there don't last long and at the price they cost they are not worth it. This has been noted by nerad and the cutting wheel is soon to be chanced, I will give the new cutting blade a chance as I still have about 5 slices rolling arou d the van not being used. And the 28mm slice is crap straight out of the packaging, 4 cuts in and start tramming the pipe.

It's built well, but I wouldn't buy another, due to the blade cutting straight, so doesn't go well with plastic pipe as the rubbers don't slide on and the replacement blades costing double the price of other makes.

Hi guys, it's Matt here from Tools2trust. As you know I'm a big fan of Nerrad tools and must say that my love started from these slices! HOWEVER !!!!!! The blades are manufactured in order to give the least possible Burred cut. This means the blades are not as durable as that of monument. However personally I don't mind buying more blades and keeping my cuts perfect every time ! You've got to try them out to make your own mind up however I LOVE them and won't attempt work without them

When is the new stainless steel blade and cutter coming out.
This question does not have any answers, do you want to leave an answer?

Have seen Nerrad getting a bit of stick for their blowtorch recently but wanted to know if their cutters were any good and if anyone goes through the effort of replacing the wheels or just replace the unit? Or are all cutters the same and I am interested in these as they are red and shiny :) cheers boys
Answered on 5th April 2017 by Terry Burgin Plumbing and Heating Engineer
The cutters are great. They leave hardly any burr in the pipe when finished, cleanest cut off all.
The blades are a lot more brittle than the others so you can't force them on or rag them off on an angle like older versions
Answered on 5th April 2017 by Modern Home Plumbing
I find them good to use, as previously said the blades are said to be brittle but both my 22 and 15 cutter wheels are pretty good after decent use. I'd recommend them.
Answered on 5th April 2017 by Gas-Tec Plumbing and Heating
I've had mine for 6 months, used and abused daily cutting painted copper. Still working great no blade issues. Even cuts old 3/4 copper fine. Worth the money definitely. Only issue my 15mm did track a few times but this was as the screws had worked lose easily fixed.

Ive seen a lot of wheels fail and chip on these. Ive found Monument to be the best especially the clamp shell ones.
Answered on 14th April 2017 by A J Marsden Ltd
Bought a 22mm and 15mm and no longer us them. Blades chip very easily and the issue was blamed on "user error".
Now bought some monument ones and seam decent -British made aswell!
