Hi, I'm Dave from DCB Plumbing and Heating. I'm a member of Expert Trades, and today, we're going to be doing a review for Tool Talk.
Today, I've got a review on the Wiha slim tip screwdriver set. This is a set that comes in six different models in the same set. You've got a large flathead, a normal size flathead, a medium to small flathead, a very, very small flathead, which this is the small one, very, very thin tip, and then you've got two Pozis. You can also buy the PZ2s, the PZ1. You can also have it in PH1 and PH2, depending on what your actual needs are.
These are the actual kit themselves. This is just a selection. The main one I want to talk about, which they've actually addressed slightly themselves, although it's a very good, useful screwdriver, the smallest one, with the tip being very, very thin, some of them have broke. I think if you are overusing them, that goes with anything. I've had this for at least two years, and as you can see, the thing itself is in fantastic condition because I look after my tools.
I think if you are hammering this or trying to pry with this because it's small, you're going to break it. I thought I'd address that first, because I have had a few issues with it. I've never had that issue, because I know this is a small screwdriver for the smaller electrical parts that I do maybe on a boiler or in the back of fuse spare or something that I'm working with.
The rest of the kit, of course, the dimensions themselves are a lot, lot thicker. I have actually personally used the biggest flathead as a bit of a chisel. Obviously, it is a thicker shaft on it as well. That's never had any issues. I wouldn't dream of using any of the smaller ones for such things because obviously the fear of breaking tools anyway.
The actual end tips on all of these, like I said, these are about two years old, this set, and they're in great condition. I look after them. The tips themselves have lasted extremely well. I find whatever material it is cast from is extremely tough, very, very durable, and for that, it's a fantastic tool. I think if you're one for looking after your tools, this is a definite five star review, because I've used this for years, and this is only the second set I've had and it's only because I lost a couple under a floorboard that I had to buy some more.
I'm glad I did. I wouldn't buy anything else. I think the slim tip with the quality of how they're made is second to none. I've had a few different ones over the years from being an apprentice 10 years ago. Some of the Stanley Fatmax that do the same sort of job look very, very similar. The quality of the end tip is nowhere near the same. You pay half the price, you actually get half the tool. I would definitely recommend these Wiha slim tip screwdriver set, pack of six. Superb tool.
