I’m not at all impressed bu and find them an awkward bit of kit to use, I find the settings you have to get spot on or it will rip the inner insulation apart and/or cut the cable at the incorrect place and damage the inner installation further up the cable.

If you’re having to strip different size cables the settings have to be reset every time or you have the same problems as above.

The measurement guide is completely pants and I’ve not had a chance to use the cutting facility as of yet.

The build quality is fantastic and they are easy to use, however, due to having to reset the settings every time you strip a different cable diameter in order to get them spot-on makes it infuriating product to use.

I find myself constantly drawn to my cheaper out of the cracker CK ones.

I do not recommend buying these.

Hi, this is Andy Bennett from Bennett Safe Gas. And this is a Tool Talk review of the Wiha.
And this is... I can't even read it. Automatic stripping tool, there you go. The English is in the tiny version there. Sorry, the box is a bit damaged from being delivered, but this is the unit just here. That's it there.
That's it unlocked. You can see the action there. You've got a range of 5 to 12 mil. If you stick your cable in there and it just pulls it off. Yeah, so far, impressed. There's a little bit of scissors just there. See it there. And then just lock, pull it and it's locked. I'm going to give them a try and then I'll show you how it's working.
Okay. Here we are with the Wiha cutters, or strippers, should I say. That's me forgetting about the button. So I've opened it up, I am adjusting it to about eight. That's the required depth for the push fit box that's on the right, that you can't see.
But as you can see, it's just... Obviously just like all the others, it just pulls the cable off really nicely. These teeth are quite sharp, but it just effortlessly pulls it off.
I did notice that if you were doing a thicker cable, sometimes the sheaths stuck in the top of it. But if you just give it a tap, it just falls straight out. And that's all of them just cut there.
Yeah, it's very nice. Easily opens and locks. Throw it in your box. Tiny. In my opinion better than some of the big metal ones. That's got the Imperial size on the back, so you can adjust.

Morning, Tool Talk. Today we are on the Verified Build, again, and we are going to be reviewing the Wiha automatic cable stripping tool. Not something out of my regular toolkit, but I asked Adam for a new hammer and this is what he gave me. So what these are, they are wire cutters and strippers from 0.3, 0.03, sorry, to 16 mil cable. A little bit of information on there. The rest is in German, so no point in showing you that. So let's have a look at them. Let's look into it.
So we've got on the top here, wire cutters or snips, whatever you want to call them, with that protective guard over there so we don't get any muck or anything in there which might damage the blades themselves. Two little blades just there, which grip our cable to strip it. A guard or a stopper there to allow us to not strip too much sheathing off when we do it. It does three to 21 mil of your sheathing, so depending on what application you're using it for, I'm guessing, depends on how much you're going to take off. Nice, well-made, fits in hand. It has got a little hook there as well to allow us to lock them in place and has everything shut the storage in the toolkit. So we're not going to dive a hand in and, whoop, cut ourselves in any way. Let's give them a blast, shall we?
Right. Spark has been first fixed in the Verified Build, and there's a bit of cable here, so. There we go. Beautiful cut. Let's do that for camera. So we basically pop it in there, squeeze them together, and it flies off. The little protector comes down right after the cut just to protect those blades. Right. We want to get this grey sheathing off, so I'm going to take that little guide off and get as much as I can off, poke it all the way in, give them a squeeze. Beautiful. Really easy. Really nice motion.
Well now, I want to take a bit off that to terminate into my switch or whatever we're going to use. And again, so easy to use. Nice, clean cut. They also come with spare blades and a spare stopper guide, whatever, tucked away in the handle. Nice, easy storage so we don't damage anything in there. It comes with a little catch, as we can see there, and the little hook there so we can squeeze them together, and they can store nicely in our toolbox like that. Nice, compact design. Yeah. Yeah, I'll use them around site and we'll update as we go.
