Megger MFT1710 Multifunction Tester

I actually have the 1721 and it's a great piece of kit. Very easy to use and the zeroing is very easy. The max zs function is a great addition

I actually have the 1711 model which has additional features that are not on this particular model, but the overall design is the same and the best in my opinion. It’s quick test functions and auto test are a must for anyone carrying out EICR’s however this particular model doesn’t have the RCD auto test function which lets it down really, I would suggest purchasing the 1711 and upwards.

I have the 1721 model, same as this but with extra functions.
Well priced MFTs straight forward to use.
The 1721 can test type AC, A & B RCDs which is great.
The leads can be temperamental and could be better (the older 1500 series leads were much better. I have changed my leads at least 3 times in 4 years. (I do a LOT of commercial testing so this does have an impact)

All in all very good set of MFTs at a good price.

Is this the most expensive electrical MFT unit out there? Probably but well worth it. Very easy to use including hands free testing so you don’t have to press the ‘test’ button. Batteries last well too which is a bonus.

Without doubt one of the best testers on the market. I’ve had fluke, kewtech, metrel and they are no where near as user friendly as this machine

Great tester by Megger. 2 wire Zs testing saves so much time as you don’t need to go looking for a neural on the lighting circuits. Fluke Vs Megger??? I’ve had both. Megger in my opinion.

Wouldn’t be without my megger now!! Bought when another brand went in for repair and couldn’t be without a tester. Most other testers you need to have at least three hands but this one makes things easy!!

i have used different testers but i keep going back to my reliable old faithful the megger id say meggers take a little bit more getting to know but once over that hurdle it wont let you down.

I own the mft1711 which comes with the auto Rcd function which is amazing and saves time when on site. The tester is overall amazing and I won't be coming away from megger anytime soon.

I’ve used Fluke,Robins, Kewtech and Megger multifunction testers since I started 14 years ago and I choose Megger every time this is because every category you look at when buying a new multifunction tester I think Megger wins hands down.

Recently replced my fluke 1652 with one of these meggers it took a little bit of getting used to having used the fluke for 15 years however now i have sussed all the functions these are a brilliant bit of kit the automatic test is a life saver when you dont have enough hands

Very very good multi function tester! Not quite as simple to use as a fluke. But more functionality and seems to perform better and be more reliable.

Used in college, very easy to use and. Friendly interface.
The probes could be a little more durable however and perhaps a combined leads and sockets for trip tests.

High quality multi function tester. Performs all necessary tests to satisfy the requirements of BS7671. Well built for longevity and accuracy.

A decent tester but with a few flaws. it absolutely eats batteries and obviously having to replace 6 at a time it's not cheap. the zs readings through some rcd are erratic at best. with some adding on upto half an ohm which leaves the readings higher than permitted by bs7671.

I have the mft 1730, It’s so easy to use the leads are well built now and easy to swap over to the croc clips. Accurate readings and calibrations organised over the phone.

I've tried Robin, Fluke, metrel and kewtech. I can honestly say that none of the above compare with Megger mft. I would possibly look to be able to extend battery life because when carrying out frequent EICR you will run out of battery midtest.

best testers out there,I've had others that never last it out for different kind of faults they get,the megger knocks them out the park,easy to use they get the test done,as for affordability there very reasonable,getting additional leads are easy,quality of these kits are brilliant I wouldn't want to shop else were

This test kit is far the best out there right now every electrician needs because makes work life a lot easier. The leads are excellent still not needed to be replaced.

I have the MFT 1731 and it’s so damn good it’s brilliant I am pondering to upgrade to the latest 1741 but at the moment can’t justify the extra expense.

This is brand that is so strong, it's name has become verb (as in "do not Megger this product" when carrying out insulation tests)! It is reliable and easy to use and whilst I've been tempted over the years to switch to other MFT's, when I review other brands I cannot find a compelling reason to switch.

Great bit of kit does all the required tests for an electrician. Very easy to use dials are very clear as is digital display. Leads are robust and crocodile clamps are very strong which is important for testing. Not that keen on the case as it’s quite clumpy but it does mean your tester won’t get damaged whilst it’s rolling around in the back of the van!

Great all round mft, much easier to use than fluke mft for me, good quality leads not had to replace mine yet, sturdy case except for the fasteners

not the best tester for me seam to like the MFT 5220 that ive had from day one did get one of these but wasnt for me megger are by far the best brand out there for test kits

Switch from metrel, Megger are a much better brand. Much easier to use than my last tester, sits nicely with the neck strap and auto R1R2 and Zs are really handy, especially testing at pendants.
Very much worth the investment.

Megger is a quality brand with a big price tag but I’ve used this brand for years and like it durability and reliability.
Highly recommended. You get what you pay for.

Probably one of the best testers I have used. This tester has everything you need for your inspection reports. I have had this tester for several years and it has never let me down

Really like this tester, but the leads are not upto the job, especially the crocodile clips.

Real good have used a few different testers and always come back to the megger Esay to use and very strait forward

I have used many of theses and I’ve had good ones and bad ones the older models are a lot more reliable than new ones think there’s too much on them to go wrong not designed to be used every day

Bought the MFT 1730 back in 2015. Other than the usual wear and tear on the leads, I've not had to spend any more money on it. A reliable unit that's feature rich and easy to use.

I love the never testers, bit pricey though!
Good all rounder since my last tester gave up the ghost.
Nice features on this one, but it should come with more probes and extras for this price.

Only had mine few months easy to use battery last for ages tried to use my other but this works so well leads plenty long enough

Cannot fault Megger testers. Used others, not a patch on Megger. Easy to use. The 2 probe test function is great.

Used to use fluke multifunction testers. Switched to Megger and they seem so much more robust and do everything the fluke can do.

this is a good littlw MF tester but there are others on the same level out there but cheaper.

Great tester shame about the expense of having to get it fixed by megger. Literally very easy to use. No handed operation for zs testing. Insulation resistance has failed on my tester and megger will charge more that £280 to fix
