Makita DSS610Z 18v Circular Saw

Brilliant bit of kit for the price, easy to use, doesnt absolutely kill my batteries like the last model, still not amazing on battery consumption, but improved.

Game changer for quick and easy cutting of cls and sheet materials. Still getting used to blade on the left. Plenty of power and batteries last reasonably well.

I finally bought one of these after wanting one for years, great tool, really happy with it, it’s well balanced and cuts like a dream! Just make sure you have a spare battery if you are planning lots of cuts!

Always reliable and well built. I haven’t used it a lot since buying it but from when using it it has been excellent at cutting. A useful companion in the van. So long as I charge my battery!!!!!

Just recently purchased this tool and is a real addition to the tool kit. As a spark it’s perfect for cutting bridgers for lights/socket back boxes. Also real handy for cutting back boards for dist board mounting. Haven’t tried it on many heavier cuts but seems strong, sturdy and well worth the money.

Not used this one but the DCS680 circular saw us an amazing bit of kit, smashed through sheets of marine play and 3"x2" on an angle, no problem at all. All with a 3ah battery which lasted very well.

Not the most powerful saw but saying that I have only caused it to stop when cutting material which is too thick. There are more powerful saws but this is all the saw I will ever need. Definitely buy again if the one I have dies. Tough as nails.

This is such a great tool. It’s easy to use, safe with a guard and most importantly works well. Another great thing about it is that it is lightweight.

What are top tool this is. I have one and it saves me so much time using it. Neat and straight cut every single time. Everyone should have one of these great value for money easy to use fantastic tool I would recommend this to anybody. Thanks

Great little saw, useful for stud walls and fairly light jobs - like cutting OSB flooring. Struggles quite a bit with anything over 4x2 and cutting wet timber is difficult. For the money it’s great value, nice and light & easy to use

Having recently bought one of these after years of having to set 110v up to cut a few osb boards down what a difference it makes. It has plenty of power and good run time using a 5ah battery.

Had this saw for about 6 years now still going strong. Mostly used for floor boards and sheets of ply does it with no problem. Also light weight so easy to use. Brake on blade is also a nice feature.

Top quality tool, light weight tool nice a compact with good punch. These have the capabilities to cut through most surfaces. Would highly recommend 10/10

Fantastic saw. Robust,I’ve dropped mine multiple times and still cut true. Two clamps, a straight edge and battery is all that’s needed for precise clean cuts.

Another great tool from Makita, light and powerful and will cut all day with a 5amp battery. Only issue I find is the depth adjustment on mine stick down into the work piece so I can only cut 30mm thick material, possible due to it being dropped but other than that a very good tool

Good base model for lxt batteries. The brushless dhs680 is a vast improvement though. Loads more power than this model. But still a good circular saw never the less

This circular saw is brilliant it has a lot of power and I use it to cut sheets of plywood and it’s the perfect tool for the job however it does burn the edge after cutting but I think all saws do overall would highly recommend

Can’t tell for the picture if this is the plunge saw or is just the circular. The soft start and the variable speed that makita have included makes the saw perfect for use.

Probably my favourite tool after the impact driver ofcourse easy to use not heavy nice in the hand needs a bigger guide but I make one myself so no biggy definitely recommend

Excellent saw. Easily cuts through 4cm soft wood. Haven't tried hard wood yet but expect the same. Feels nice in the hand. The LED light to illuminate the saw line is a nice addition. The dust extraction is a bit small (19mm inner /21mm outer diameter) and I needed duct tape to hook it up to my shop vac, but worked efficiently. Not too much vibration either. Impressed with how well the saw blade tracked - it remained perpendicular to the top of the material, even when cutting thicker pieces. I went for this (older) model due to some negative comments on usability of the latest Makita brushless jig saw and I think it was the right choice. A joy to use and highly recommended.

I didnt realy want a batterie skill saw but once i had used this i knew i was never going back to corded. You probably do need a 5ah batterie if your cutting any thing over 12mm but i was suprised at how good it realy is

Probably use this tool for more than it was designed to do i cut all sorts withthisfrom raftsrs joists to sheet material since owning this tool my 110v larger saw hasnt been out the shed

It doesn’t struggle at all. The blades are not the best but you can always use other brands.

Nice light weight saw. Clean cut. Easy to use. I've not had problems with cutting 4x2 length wise with 5.0Ah battery. No burning on sheet and timber.

I've recently purchased the Makita Brushless circular saw. It cuts ok but maybe I am finding the change from corded to be the issue. Cuts well at its own pace, no forcing it. Cuts inch thick deckboard well not so much the thicker structural wood.

Hi Bought this a while ago and I use it pretty much every day. It's cheap to buy and it's got so much power behind it. I can't recommend it enough.

Having owned this cordless circular saw that I got within a kit from Makita 4 years ago I have to say what a great item it is for cutting various materials when out and about.

There are several alternative toothed blades available to suit material you are working on and the saw has quite the power output providing you let the blade do its thing rather than forcing.
A great item to own.

Recently got one, it’s one of those items that is as good as the blade you put into it.
It does the job and doesn’t quit early.

decent circular saw. it uses alot of a battery power but then it's doing a tough job. ultimately it's the saw blade that makes the difference though. I've had my saw for 7 years and still going strong.

These are great saws, these are light , but feel weighted properly in your hand, powerful not under powered like some other brands and accurate straight from the box, I liked it so much I bought 2 one for each hand

Fits nicely into the Makita range of stackable boxes and inlay at extra cost.

Great circular saw, cuts well with plenty of power not too hard on the battery either. I prefer the 18v version over the 240v due not having wires trailing around.

I always choose Makita, top quality brand. battery lasts well, easy to follow in a straight line, blades interchangeable and easy to change. comfortable even after cutting loads of boards on a job

Plenty of power for a cordless saw. Was very impressed. Never missed a beat even after very heavy use. Nice and light. Easily adjustable depth gauge

Great little saw for general woodwork, add a quality blade and It will work it's way through most jobs. Be careful not to overload or let it overheat as the brushes will melt as I found out. No bother as brushes are easy to replace and back in action. Will be going for the brushless version once this one dies as it's limited to 3.0amp batteries whereas brushless goes to 6.0amp batteries.

In my opinion the worst of all makita power tools. I bought mine to eliminate the power cord getting in the way of work. I didn’t expect it to be as powerful as the corded version obviously but I find it to be so low on power that it’s very hard to cut with any accuracy which limits its use. Only really good for ripping down OSB board. Much better cordless circular saws on the market

Great little lightweight saw for cutting floorboards. Easy to use and can take some abuse. Mine is well overdue a new blade now.

Had mine years it does the job . It's on its way out now but that's more the way I have useen it then the tool itself .

Brilliant little saw i barely use a mains powered one anymore. Does everything i need as a general builder from ripping wood to cutting sheets. Been running mine 3+ years although it does seem to finally be dying. Will definitely replace it.

Great power from a hand held unit. I'd regiment using the Makita blades with it aswell as they are 1.6mm and give a very neat cut

Another great tool from Makita, easy to use, robust and the battery lasts much longer than I expected. It'll cut a 50mm thick piece of timber quite easily for a battery powered tool, but I tend to use it for cutting sheet material most of the time. Excellent piece of kit.

This is a great saw, never let me down, Well made, tough and durable, dropped a few times but no damage at all!
Really early to use, comes with a guide so you can guarantee a straight cut!
And to top it all off it’s not that expensive compared to some other brands!

I've owned 1 of the these saw for 12 months and used regularly , it's lightweight , very easy to use and able to adjust angle and depth very quickly . It has good build quality and is great value for money

Really like this saw, used it for everything from rafters, to floor boards, to ripping sheets of ply etc. Good depth stop adjustment, bevel setting and the light is well positioned.

This is my go-to saw. I use it usually every day and I've really put it through its paces.
I've build decks, framed roofs, built stud work, you name it this saw has done it and more.
The key is to keep a sharp blade and a fresh battery in it and it will be the best thing you own. Well worth every penny.

Had 1 of these for a while now being a plumber mainly use to get floor boards up. I have in my time gone over cables but other then crapping myself the saw took it all and I did not feel a thing. Very good bit of kit with lots of power

Marvellous piece of kit. Had mine for years now. Had it serviced once when the on switch stuck. Make sure you stick with the Makita blade as i tried others and they are not as good. I've cut worktops, floorboards, ply, OSB3 and even 7" x 3" and it managed. So impressed i bought the twin 18v for tougher jobs in case i ever find one

Great product used Makita for over 20 years , right from when they only had ni-cad batteries at 7.2v @ 1.2amphr.

Another great quality tool from Makita. Good value, but need to add battery and case. Requires a Makpac 3 case and inlay & I'd recommend a 4ah or 5ah battery. A 3ah drains very quickly with this saw.

Good tool, excellent for cutting board etc if you have no power, battery soon runs down if you have quite a few cuts so get the highest ah battery you can and have a few spare fully charged if your on a big job
